On May 16th, 2022, 60 Caldera High School sophomores pulled into the parking lot for the annual Thermo Fisher Scientific STEM Day. This event was created to engage students through hands on activities such as DIY lava lamps, immersive tours of the manufacturing and analytical labs, as well as a career expo. Wallace Group participated in the career expo setting up next to representatives from a flight school, forensic criminology professionals, a community college, and four-year education institutions. It was here where students spoke to Wallace Group engineers and geologists about our company and possible careers. These sophomores had questions about everything from educational requirements to what it was really like to work in our field. STEM day was designed to expose students to new possibilities and inspire them to consider future paths for themselves. 60 sophomores showed up to this event, but by the end of the day it was the future STEM leaders who left the parking lot.
